Success Stories From Members

"I think learning how to grow your own food is a really great skill to have. It brings you back connected to the earth. It's an amazing life skill to have, and I think so many of us are so detached from the food system, and I think actually being connected to the source is really important. And also seeing the work that goes into it, and having the girls pick stuff out of the garden is pretty amazing. They're much more likely to eat greens.
I think one of the key takeaways for me is when Craig was saying, "We're feeding the soil, we're not feeding the plants," and just really concentrating on the soil and the health of the soil for healthy foods. So I think that's been a massive learning for me.."
~ JEN

"I just think that growing your own food and being self-sufficient is something that we all should be doing for the future, because there are so many unknowns, like where are we getting our food from? What are we even eating when we go to the supermarket? I love the feeling of just providing for yourself and your family, and from the earth as well, and having that connection.
you plant to seed and it just grows and grows and grows with people, ideas, what we're doing to the earth, sustainability, and feeding ourselves, and for our children as well.
So I just kind of thought, you've got soil, you put in some seedlings and they grow. I had no idea about composting, fertilizing, and natural ways to do that as well."
~ LUCY

"I'm just conscious of clean eating and also the therapeutic side of actually growing, and then harvesting your own food as well, for my kids to know how to do that as well because I think it's going to become more and more important going forward. Absolutely. Yeah, definitely. If you're interested in even just growing in pots on your veranda, I'd suggest doing it because the reward of getting your hands dirty, and then being able to literally see the fruits of your labor is, I think one of the most exciting things you can do.
~ VIRGINIE

"I just wanted to get serious about producing more vegetables. most of all, I learned how important the emphasis is on getting the soil exactly right. And if you really, really, really get the soil right, plants can probably take care of themselves. Absolutely, it's both a body of knowledge and an experience."
~ JO

"I don't think there's anything healthier than literally just pulling something out of the ground and eating it, maximizing nutrients. For sure, I think it pitches it at a lot of different levels. So whether you just want to grow stuff in your veggie patch or whether you want to do it as I do on a bigger level and in a bigger area, at whatever level you're at, I think you'll learn something and you'll be growing your own stuff by the end of it. So yeah, it's cool. "
